From a DC police report and DC News Now: On Saturday, April 19, 2025, at approximately 8:07 a.m., Fifth District officers responded to a report of an unconscious person in the 1600 block of Maryland Avenue NE, Washington DC. Officers located an adult female inside a dumpster. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and after finding no signs consistent with life pronounced the woman dead. On Sunday, April 20, 2025, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death was blunt force trauma and asphyxiation. The manner of death was ruled a homicide. The decedent has been identified as 62-year-old Donella Bryan of Northeast, D.C.There is an article in the Washington Post about this hard-working grandmother's loss, and the impact this has had.
